Group Jamming:

Jamming is an accordion club tradition. It can be fun for everyone after all players have had a turn to play, the establishment allows it, and if any or all players agree to participate.
Past experiences have shown that spontaneous jamming can create negative results such as: the wasting of valuable time, lack of harmony and cohesion between players which reduces the quality of music for the listeners.
To avoid that, we have established the following rules for our club:
1. We have compiled a list of songs that are standard club jam songs. Every member interested in this activity should present 3 songs which will be agreed upon by the membership ahead of time. Identifying the songs will allow members to practice those in preparation for the jam session.
2. Lead sheets or music scores should be prepared in folders for everyone to share and practice ahead of time.
3. Every song will have an assigned “leader”, usually the member who selected it, who is very familiar with the song and will lead the group in that song.
It is suggested that the song “leader” will have the “Master” switch on and the rest play with a clarinet switch only or as specified by the song leader.
The 3 songs selected by every member should be presented along with the music score or lead sheet, preferably in an easy key.
Each member is responsible to maintain and bring along a folder containing the music scores for the jam session placed in the correct order.
